Celia Greiner produces custom and limited production furniture that is unique, simple, functional and sculptural. By combining traditional woodworking techniques with sculptural forms, she makes furniture that is pleasing to the eye and to the touch.

Being an environmentally conscious workshop, only wood milled from the urban forest, a sustainable resource, is used in the production of furniture. Local woods include oak, ash, elm, maple, walnut, cherry, kentucky coffee tree, birch, mulberry and many others. The finishes used are eco-friendly, low VOC formulas.

Currently some pieces can be seen at Verde Design Studio and Green Home Chicago in Chicago. See links page for more information on these galleries.

Celia's sculpture reveals an interest in animating wood and making objects that would seemingly interact with us. She is interested in organisms that live in a different atmosphere and environment than our own, such as insects and sea creatures and how we perceive them and why we are attracted to some and repelled by others.

Celia received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is a graduate of the Worcester Center for Crafts in Worcester, Massachusetts. She worked at furniture manufacturers in Massachusetts and Chicago prior to opening her workshop in Chicago in 2003.
